my new bag...

...was completed yesterday!

this has been my most complex sewing project to date! lots of measuring, cutting, ironing, re-cutting, more ironing, mixed in with a bit of experimentation, and some poop and vomit too (i'll explain later.) i actually first made an entire bag for practice since this one had embroidery and i didn't want to miscalculate something. i also tried out a new material, peltex, to make the sides sturdy without using interfacing. and i love the results. karen's mom, penny, helped me with the embroidery which was almost a disaster since i originally chose the wrong color for the design. thankfully penny is very patient with me!

my sewing mentor, becky, helped me the whole way with it since there was so much experimenting with new techniques and materials for me. so today i had to bring kate to her house while i finished up the bag. becky played babysitter while i sewed. and kate...well, the poor thing wouldn't nap in a strange place so she screamed for an hour while i hoped she would fall asleep. and when she wasn't screaming she was busy making dirty diapers and then she actually projectile vomited all over becky. i felt bad, this isn't normal for my kate. i hope she didn't leave a bad impression but i have a feeling she might not be welcome back.

sorry for such a long intro for just a bag!! so here it is:

it's 19"L x 15"H

the inside: i had fun with the pockets and the reinforced bottom since i ran out of lining material
