pattern review

my new favorite thing to do is hit the 99-cent and $1.99 pattern sales. i've discovered there is just something about finding that perfect pattern and then actually wearing the finished product. it's almost as much fun as bargain shopping in my favorite store! i've collected a good number of patterns now, and will be making tops, skirts, and dresses for myself as i find time.

here is the first top i've made:

McCall's 6034, view B (shown in the blue)

and here's my shirt:

the size is right on, except the sleeves were a little too flowy for my style, so i cut them down by 2 inches.  i used a lavendar bamboo knit fabric that drapes very well.  there is enough room in the waist to actually wear this shirt as a maternity top, too, at least for the first few months of pregnancy.  the pattern instructions were super-easy to follow and the shirt turned out exactly the way i hoped it would (except for the sleeves, but i adjusted them.)

i'll probably soon attempt the sleeveless top (shown in the red.)

i give this pattern a definite "try it!"
