well, after a couple of months of researching sewing machines in my price range, i took the advice of my friend jenny and got her machine, the Brother XR-7700. i actually purchased it factory-refurbished from overstock.com. that made me kinda scared at first, but out of 257 reviews of the machine and overstock's customer service, the average rating was 4.8 out of 5 stars. so i took the chance and i've got 30 days to see if i'll keep it. i haven't done much with it yet since it kinda intimidates me. if you could see where i came from (basic, basic kenmore) to this computerized brother, you would be too!
check it out here if you're interested.

Lauren,
I lost track of your blog and caught up. Glad you got a new machine. How's it working for you? I haven't used mine in a LONG time. I look forward to reading posts on how to use all the cool functions (if you can post those too..thanks). I've just played with the basic stitches and the buttonhole features. I haven't used the decorative stitches yet.
